Dollis Street Infill Planting

Infill planting at Dollis St Park has been completed!

Council staff have planted Seven different native species in the small section of bush-land separating the park from the road. This follows on from the removal of weeds throughout the undergrowth.

The introduction of more native species to the bush-land will prevent the re-establishment of weed species and significantly improve the health of the patch.

Council staff will undertake ongoing maintenance to ensure the establishment of the new plants and ensure positive long term outcomes for the site.

Stable Swamp Creek Restoration Works Underway at Fauna Parade Park

Brisbane City Council is undertaking creek restoration works within Fauna Parade Park along Stable Swamp Creek to improve the long-term health of the waterway and surrounding environment.

The project includes:

  • Removing invasive trees and grasses
  • Installing erosion-control measures
  • Planting local native vegetation along the creek corridor
  • Undertaking vegetation management to support ongoing creek health

During construction, residents may notice increased activity within the park, including machinery, work vehicles and temporary access restrictions around work areas. Some noise and dust may also occur as restoration activities are carried out.

Works are expected to continue until approximately May 2027, subject to weather conditions.

These restoration works will help improve habitat, reduce erosion and support the environmental health of Stable Swamp Creek for years to come.

Doolandella Recreation Reserve

Council will be carrying out weed and vegetation management works shortly in the Doolandella Recreation Reserve near Finetti Circuit and Adeline Close, Durack. Upcoming works will include:

  • Conduct weed management along the northern interface of the reserve abutting Finetti Circuit and Adeline Close to reduce weed presence and seeding into the reserve. Weed treatments will focus on a range of species including (Cadaghi, Broadleaf Pepper tree, Chinese Elm, Tipuana Tipu, Easter Cassia, Leucaena, Agave, Yucca).
  • Reinstate the original track width of the mown firebreak commencing from the end of Adeline Close and running eastward adjacent to and behind private residences.
  • Reinstate vegetation clearances on the existing internal track off Adeline Close to provide for safer access for the public and management staff.
  • Prepare an area of approximately 3,600m² located towards the Southwest corner of the reserve for future native restoration plantings. This area is currently occupied by weed vegetation and will be slashed, treated and blanket mulched for future native planting.

Works are expected to be completed by late June 2026, weather permitting. These improvements are an important step in restoring native vegetation and maintaining safe access throughout the Reserve.
